3 Ways to Support Vulnerable Families

Not everyone is called to open their home to host children or walk alongside a parent—but everyone can play a role in supporting vulnerable families. Keeping families together takes a community, and there are simple, meaningful ways you can make a difference every day.

If you’ve ever wanted to help but weren’t sure how, here are three ways to support families in crisis—no extra time or major commitment required.

Pray as You Go About Your Day

Prayer is one of the most powerful ways to lift up families in crisis, and it can fit naturally into your routine. As you drive to work, pray for a single mom looking for stable housing. While making dinner, pray for a parent trying to provide for their kids. Ask God to strengthen families, open doors for stability, and give wisdom to the volunteers and staff supporting them.

Share What You Already Have

You don’t have to host a child to provide for one. The next time you’re out shopping, consider picking up an extra box of diapers, a pack of wipes, or some children’s PJs. These are such a blessing for children staying with a Host Family during a hosting. A small gift on your part can help provide them with a sense of normalcy.

Join Family Tree for Lasting Impact

One of the easiest ways to support families long-term is by joining Family Tree, our monthly giving program. Even a small, recurring gift helps provide stability for families, ensuring they get the help they need—not just once, but throughout their journey to stability. You can support a hosting night for a child, ensuring they are safe and cared for until they can be reunited with their family.

Even if you’re not in a position to be a Host Family or volunteer in another role, you are still needed. Your prayers, generosity, and support make it possible for parents to move from crisis to stability, knowing they are not alone.
